Safety measures in ski resorts

Corona rules and safety measures in all ski resorts in Vorarlberg - Winter 2020/21

We are pleased that you are interested in a winter holiday in Vorarlberg! Like all countries, Austria’s goal is to contain the renewed spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as quickly and effectively as possible. The Austrian government has therefore imposed a partial lockdown. Gastronomy and accommodation facilities will be closed till beginning of April. Cable cars in the ski resorts are open. As in spring and summer, these comprehensive measures are intended to reduce the spread and thus keep the risk of infection to a minimum.  Thanks to the “Winterkodex Vorarlberg,” which contains extensive safety measures, the prospects are promising.

To have a good ski day during the coronavirus pandemic, personal responsibility and consistent adherence to rules and recommendations are musts! Based on the legal regulations and self-developed prevention concepts, the following health & safety measures and rules of conduct apply during the 2020/2021 winter season at Vorarlberg’s ski resorts:

Masks and minimum safety distances

Although cable cars (cabins and chairlifts) are typically open means of transport with a low risk of infection and a short length of stay, they are nevertheless governed by the same rules that apply to public transport such as buses or trains. Therefore, please always carry at least one mask that covers the nose and mouth with you at all times and use the mask whenever the minimum safety distance of 2 metre from strangers cannot be maintained.

  • A mask must be worn for the entire duration of the journey with cable car, chairlifts, surface lifts, and magic carpets. In cable car gondolas, covered chairlifts and in the corresponding covered queuing areas a FFP2-mask is required for people older than 14 years. Young people older than 6 years have to wear a mask that covers nose and mouth.
  • A FFP2-mask must be worn in the queuing area, at the ticket counters and cash desks, as well as during boarding and deboarding.
  • Please observe the 2-metre minimum safety distance while queuing.
  • Where available, please observe the floor markings.
  • You are also required to wear a mask in all public indoor areas. This includes WC facilities, stores, ski rental shops, ski storage depots and restaurants.
  • The cable car companies will regularly disinfect the gondolas, cash-desk area and all public premises. Please also observe the hygiene rules and use the disinfectant dispensers set up as often as possible.
  • FFP2-Masks must of course also be worn in the ski buses.

  • Avoid the formation of groups at all times!
  • Please pay contactlessly if possible.

  • Employee instructions must be followed at all times.
  • Please follow the general hygiene rules.
